“Were organically grown so we’re
better for you then most foods.”
~ Rob of UMELT
Some bands get together do a couple local gigs and then fall apart, others have the drive “that never give up attitude”. U-Melt is that band. “We’re all really committed to the fact that we’re gonna be doing this for the rest of our lives.” Says keyboardist Zac Lasher, “We put the music first before everything else, it’s a little insane, and I really think that you have to be a little “off” to do what we do.”
Kicking off the "Question Mark Beard" Winter Tour with their 300th live show, one has to ask themselves: What does 2006 have in store for one of the hardest working bands out there? Adam Bendy, bass player and registered Groove maker explains, “We have a passion for the music we play, and the desire to reach as many people as possible we’re always writing new music, and we encourage tapers to record our shows, and spread them around so there’s always something new to listen to.”
You can download most of U-Melts shows on www.archive.org a bit torrent site as well as the set list’s at www.umelt.com. “I think the 6 ½ hour set at the Garden of Eden in 04, Strange Creek 05’, Stonehenge 05’, the NuGroove Festival 05’, and this past NYE shows all are pretty significant shows.” according to Rob Salzer guitarist and vocalist.
One thing you’ll notice at an Unbelievable Meltdown show is everyone sings even the drummer George Miller. They have also had their fair share of special guests this past year, Al, Rob and Vinnie of Moe, “Patchen” and Don Scott of Strangefolk, members of Deep Banana Blackout, Perpetual Groove, Brothers Past, Max Creek and The Bridge. And that’s just the short list. “We strive to sound like nothing anyone’s ever heard before, our philosophy of music is that it’s all about the groove, fortunately George and Adam are groove machines.” Explains Zac.
Umelt pushes the envelope; each show is another orgasm for the ears. They’ve covered the Pink Floyd album “Wish You Were Here” as well as songs from the Beatles. There original music is well composed and can always be expanded upon and the jams get your legs movin’ and your body shaken! “Ultimately, we love the music that we make and we love making it together, that’s what keeps us going.” Rob pauses for a second, “Were organically grown so we’re better for you then most foods.”
The Unbelievable Meltdown is also better for you then most bands. They plan on hitting the studio to record some new tracks as well as hit the road again for a summer tour. Now get your ass to a show! Here’s a list of some Festivals UMELT will be rockin’ the stage at with that late night UNSK!
